FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS for public

QUESTIONS - COVID-19

Question:

What types of tests do you perform for COVID-19?

Answer:
  • RT-PCR test
  • antigen test
  • IgG and IgA antibody test

Question:

What is the purpose of each test?

Answer:
  • RT-PCR test
    • Recommended test for confirmation of COVID-19 disease and SARS CoV-2 virus infection, gold standard and validation test for other tests
  • Antigen test
    • Basic test for screening patients with COVID-19, a positive test in the absence of symptoms must be confirmed by performing a PCR test. A negative test for COVID-19 disease, when symptoms are present, should be discussed with a physician
  • IgG antibody test
    • Find out if you have been infected with COVID-19 and if you have developed antibodies. If antibodies are formed, vaccination is not recommended for the time being. Antibodies provide protection against infection for some time. Unfortunately, it is not possible to determine exactly what the minimum level of antibodies must be to provide protection or how fast the level of antibodies will decrease over time. It will be similar with antibodies that are formed after vaccination
  • IgA antibody test
    • IgA antibodies are formed in the acute phase of infection, as a reaction of mucosal immunity, decrease rapidly and do not persist for a long time. They are only of complementary importance for the diagnosis of the disease. They cannot be used to diagnose an acute infection, for which the PCR test is used
Question:

Do I have to make a reservation to take the test?

Answer:
  • RT-PCR test and antigen test
    • You must make a reservation through the reservation system on our website.
    • An exception is the sampling point in Prague Žluté lázně, where you can come without making a reservation, though you may need to wait for a while.
  • IgG and IgA antibodies

Question:

Why don't you collect samples at all your collection points?

Answer:
  • Some collection sites are not suitable for sample collection from patients with suspected COVID-19. The waiting area is not structurally separated from other areas of medical facilities.
  • Sampling points designed only for nasopharyngeal swabs for PCR and antigen tests (Prague Žluté lázně, Rohatec) do not have the facilities to collect blood samples required for the antibody tests.

Question:

I did not receive a confirmation email after making a reservation.

Answer:
  • Write to covid@spadia.cz and we can confirm the reservation. The validity of the reservation without confirmation is 120 minutes, after which it can be reserved by another person interested in the date. If you enter an incorrect email address, you will not receive a confirmation email.

Question:

Answer:
  • You can adjust smaller typos by hand on printed requests. If the changes consist of more changes, please state the changes by e-mail and send them to covid@spadia.cz. We will correct the incorrect data and send a new request.

Question:

Do I have to bring a printed version of the sample collection request? Can't I just show it on my mobile phone?

Answer:
  • We need a paper request to be able to barcode both the sample tube and the request. It prevents samples being mixed up. If you do not have the opportunity to print the application in advance, you can fill out the form again at the collection point.
Question:

What biological material is taken for testing?

Answer:
  • RT-PCR test
    • nasopharyngeal swab

    • nasopharyngeal swab
  • IgG and IgA antibody test
    • blood sample collection from a vein

Question:

Do you take samples from a throat (swab) or from saliva?

Answer:
  • We do not perform these tests. Nasal swabs are generally problem-free, including those of young children.

Question:

How do you prevent samples from being mixed up?

Answer:
  • During sample collection, we mark the request form and the sample with the same barcode, to prevent any confusion.
Question:

How are the results delivered?

Answer:
  • We always send the result via SMS message. If an email address is provided, then we also send the results via email, as well as the certificate (when applicable and requested). • RT-PCR test
    • Usually around 24 hours, no later than 48 hours after sample collection. We also deliver the results during the weekend.
  • Antigen test
    • We do not provide results at the collection point, though we usually deliver the result on the day of sample collection via SMS/ email. Positive tests are verified by RT-PCR in the absence of symptoms of the disease, no later than the following day.
    • An exception is the hospital in Roudnice n. Labem, where POC tests are performed and you get the result on the spot.

  • IgG and IgA antibody test
    • Within three working days.

Question:

Do you offer the option of expedited delivery of results?

Answer:
  • We do not offer this option. We process the samples in the order in which they were delivered to the laboratory. We deliver the results in the shortest possible time.

Question:

I didn't receive an email with the results. I didn't receive an SMS with a password.

Answer:
  • Wait 15-20 minutes. Email and SMS are delivered through different systems, and so they may not arrive at the same time. If it does not arrive after this time, write to covid@spadia.czEnter your full name, including diacritics and date of birth. This will make it easier for us to find the result.

Question:

I didn't get any test results.

Answer:
  • Write to covid@spadia.czEnter your full name, including diacritics and date of birth. This will make it easier for us to find the result. If the sample was not taken at our sampling point but in one of the cooperating hospitals, also state the name of this hospital.
Question:

How do I interpret the results?

Answer:
  • RT-PCR test
    • Qualitative results - positive, negative and weakly positive.
    • A weakly positive result means that the subject is at the initial or final phase of the infection. Part of the result is a recommendation for a repeated PCR test in five days, which will confirm which phase.
  • Antigen test
    • Qualitative results - positive, negative.
    • If you stated during the collection that you do not have any symptoms of the disease and the test is positive, we will automatically perform a confirmatory PCR test from the already taken sample.
  • IgG and IgA antibody test
    • The results are expressed in the positivity index.
      • Results up to 0.9 are rated as negative. You have not developed antibodies, which means it is unlikely that you were exposed to the virus.
      • Results in the range 0.9 - 1.1 are evaluated as borderline, it may be a non-specific reaction, beginning or declining antibody production.
      • Results higher than 1.1 are considered positive. You have developed antibodies, which means that it is likely that you were exposed to the virus.
      • Further information on antibodies and explanations are provided in the result sheet.

Question:

Are you able to detect a specific virus mutation in my sample?

Answer:

While our PCR tests can detect all types of Covid-19 virus mutations, we are unable to identify the specific mutation/ strain of the virus. Sequencing of the entire RNA of the virus is necessary for this identification. In the Czech Republic, this test is only performed by the SZÚ for epidemiological reasons.

Question:

For which tests do you issue medical certificates?

Answer:
  • For PCR tests only.

Question:

What is the price of the certificate?

Answer:
  • Certificate is included in PCR test price. No additional cost
  • The cost of a certificate for an antigen test is 200 Kč

Question:

In which languages can the certificate be provided?

  • It is trilingual. In Czech, English and Russian.

Question:

What does the certificate look like and what information does it contain?

Answer:

  • Due to the large number of tests performed, we are not able to manually prepare certificates in other languages. Contact your general practitioner, who can confirm your certificate based on our results report.

Question:

I didn't receive the certificate, what should I do?

Answer:
  • Please check the third page of the pdf file sent in the email link for the certificate.
  • If you are referred for a PCR test by a doctor and the test is reported to the health insurance company, we do not issue a certificate. Ask the doctor who referred the test to issue a certificate based on our results report.
